Dans le monde c’est aujourd’hui 1,3 milliard de tonnes de nourriture qui sont jetées ou perdues chaque année. En France, ce n’est pas moins de 10 millions de tonnes de nourriture qui sont gâchées chaque année. Le gaspillage alimentaire, ne cesse de croître, et a lieu à toutes les étapes : la production, la transformation, la distribution, la consommation et même la restauration et le stockage.
Qu’est ce que le gaspillage alimentaire ?
Selon la définition du Pacte National « anti-gaspi’ » datant de 2013, le gaspillage alimentaire correspond à « toute nourriture destinée à la consommation humaine, qui, à une étape de la chaîne alimentaire, est perdue, jetée, dégradée ».
Malgré une prise de conscience générale des individus sur les problèmes environnementaux, les chiffres sur le gaspillage alimentaire donnent à méditer.
En effet, selon une étude de l’ADEME on considère que le gâchis alimentaire se répartit comme ceci :
32% pour la production agricole
21% pour la transformation
14% pour la distribution
14% pour la restauration collective et commerciale
19% pour la consommation à domicile.
Gaspiller de la nourriture c’est gaspiller de l’argent, et certains l’ont bien compris. Le marketing a un rôle essentiel à jouer sur le gaspillage alimentaire dans le monde.
« Too good to go, l’appli qui fait du bien »
C’est en 2016 que l’application Too good To Go voit le jour. Le principe est simple : acheter les invendus des commerçants et supermarchés à des prix nettement inférieurs que les prix de vente habituels des produits en question.
L’application est très facile d’utilisation. L’utilisateur la télécharge gratuitement sur son mobile et se crée un profil. Ensuite, il se localise et pourra voir les « paniers surprises » remplis d’invendus disponibles autour de lui, avec leurs prix et leurs heures de collecte. Parce que oui, le concept c’est que lorsque vous récupérez votre panier, vous ne savez pas à l’avance ce qu’il y a à l’intérieur. Pour les supermarchés, le panier peut contenir de la viande et des produits frais comme des plats préparés, pour les boulangeries vous pouvez avoir du sucré comme du salé etc. Il y a donc une part assez ludique dans le processus d’achat du panier avec un effet de surprise lors de la collecte !
Mais avant tout, l’application a un réel enjeu écologique. En effet, comme mis en avant dans une de leur campagne de communication, le gaspillage alimentaire est le 3ème plus gros pollueur dans le monde.
Too good to Go a compris l’urgence de la situation et la nécessité d’agir. Depuis la création de l’application c’est déjà 17,7 millions de repas qui ont été sauvés.
Aujourd’hui plus de 14 000 commerçants sont référencés sur l’application qui compte pas moins de 7 millions d’utilisateurs.
Mais comment continuer d’attirer toujours plus d’utilisateurs ?
Too good to go ajoute très régulièrement de nouveaux commerçants car ils savent que les utilisateurs attendent toujours plus de choix et veulent par exemple retrouver des paniers de leur boulangerie préférée en bas de chez eux !
Parmi les enseignes partenaires, vous retrouvez Brioche dorée, Biocoop, Casino ou encore Carrefour ou les hôtels Mercure.
Mais au mois d’octobre 2020, Too good to Go va frapper plus fort en s’associant à Clear Channel et en proposant de mettre en avant les boutiques disponibles sur l’application sur les totems digitaux installés dans des centres commerciaux et dans les centre-ville. Cette action permettra de valoriser les commerçants référencés par l’application.

Alors on va commencer direct dans le vif du sujet. Depuis quand utilisez-vous l’application Too good to go ?
Je dirais que je l’ai utilisée assez tôt, il y a 2 ans ou plus (2017/2018)
Comment l’avez vous connue ?
Je ne me rappelle plus exactement mais je pense que ça devait être du bouche à oreille dans mes connaissances.
Pourquoi l’utilisez vous ?
J’ai eu plusieurs approches.
Au début je me souviens il n’y avait que des restaurants presque, mais je me disais que c’était trop bien de pouvoir manger mes plats préférés à un prix largement moins cher (un plateau de sushis à 23h à 5€ je dis jamais non haha).
Ensuite il y a eu de plus en plus de supermarchés sur l’application et je me suis dit que c’était trop bien non seulement pour le prix mais surtout pour avoir des inspirations de repas. Je vais me chercher un panier surprise dans un supermarché et je suis « obligé » de créer des recettes avec ce que j’ai eu. J’aime bien le côté ludique de l’application, tu peux autant te retrouver avec des légumes que tu ne manges jamais qu’avec ton paquet de gâteaux préféré.
Du coup, quelle est votre motivation première à utiliser l’application ?
Le côté environnemental me semble important mais c’est vrai que ce n’est pas ma motivation première. Je dirais que j’ai deux motivations principales : faire une vraie bonne affaire donc le côté plutôt financier et en second ce dont je vous parlais tout à l’heure : le côté surprise en découvrant le contenu de mon panier qui m’inspire pour créer des repas variés et différents de mes repas habituels.
L’enseigne préférée où vous allez chercher des paniers ?
Mon enseigne préférée je pense que c’est Casino à Saint Georges, je trouve qu’ils font des paniers de qualité et c’est pas loin de chez moi.
Un point à améliorer sur l’application ?
J’aimerais plus de diversité au niveau des commerçants, c’est vrai qu’à Toulouse en terme de restaurants proposés sur l’application on fait assez vite le tour et c’est pour ça que je me concentre plus sur les supermarchés maintenant mais j’ai hâte que de nouvelles enseignes soient disponibles !

Pour conclure,
Too good to go permet de sauver des invendus, de participer à la réduction du gaspillage alimentaire et donc à la réduction de la pollution liée à celui-ci. L’application incite ses utilisateurs à consommer différemment et à découvrir des commerçants ou produits locaux tout en faisant des économies.
Certaines limites subsistent, les consommateurs ne pouvant pas choisir leurs produits, ils peut leur arriver de ne pas toujours consommer l’intégralité de leur panier et ainsi jeter une partie des denrées. Aussi, certains commerçants pourraient être tentés de mettre dans les paniers certains produits frais (viandes, légumes…) qui ne le serait plus tant que ça…
