Pour ceux d’entre vous qui ne connaîtriez pas cette entreprise aujourd’hui mondiale, voici un retour rapide sur son activité…
Thales est un groupe d’équipements électroniques créé en 2000, spécialisé dans les domaines de l’aéronautique, l’espace, la défense, la sécurité, les modes transports et bien d’autres marchés spécifiques tel que le domaine scientifique de la santé.
Son origine provient du ralliement des branches militaires d’Alcatel, Dassault Électronique ainsi que Thomson CFS. 19 ans plus tard, c’est l’ambitieux Patrice Caine qui est à sa tête.
Entre ses commandes, ses innovations, ses rachats, sa transformation digitale, Thales ne cesse de grandir…
Retour sur sa croissance spectaculaire.
Des résultats en hausse
2018 aura été une année grand cru pour Thales, avec des objectifs dépassés à tous les niveaux :
- 7 % de commandes pour un total de 16 milliards d’euros**
- 4,1 % de chiffre d’affaire (15,86 milliards d’euros)**
- 44 % de résultat net (982 millions d’euros)**
Et la croissance qui se profile pour 2019 semble tout aussi prodigieuse.
En effet, vous avez peut-être récemment entendu parler du groupe, pour son acquisition de Gemalto (spécialiste de la sécurité numérique) officialisée le 02/04/19.
Pour 4,8 milliards d’euros, Thales devient le leader mondial de la sécurité et de l’identité numériques et avec cette action, le groupe aura investi 7 milliards d’euros en 5 ans dans le digital. Un éventail de technologies numériques en croissance qui va permettre à Thales de developper les solutions de demain en matière de pilotage de données, d’autonomie, et d’immersion.
Le groupe semble donc bien parti pour relever les challenges de demain à savoir, le big data, la cybersécurité, la connectivité et l’intelligence artificielle.
Comment Thales prépare le FUTUR ?
- Premièrement en misant sur la R&D (recherche et développement), la R&T (recherche et technologie) et les talents.
Avec le rachat de Gemalto, Thales s’appuie dorénavant sur une force de frappe considérable avec 28 000 ingénieurs en R&D, 3 000 chercheurs et 20 500 brevets.
En 2018, c’est 5 000 personnes à travers le monde qui ont été embauchées, en particulier, dans le domaine du digital.
Au total, Thales représente désormais 80 000 talents dans 68 pays et cette diversité, ainsi que l’expertise qui en émane, est source d’innovations pour le groupe. Ceux sont, par conséquent, les compétences humaines associées aux technologies qui permettent au groupe de sortir des produits innovants avant les autres. Qui plus est, l’accent est mis sur une accélération des phases de développement et sur des innovations de rupture pour être le pionnier sur le marché.

C’est ainsi qu’à la mi-2017, Thales ouvre sa Digital Factory au coeur de Paris.
Située dans l’espace de co-working branché WeWork du 9ème arrondissement, Thales joue des coudes pour se faire une place qui se veut attrayante et stratégique. Attrayante pour séduire ses nouveaux talents et stratégique pour communiquer sa transformation.
Ses fonctions ?
- Offrir une plateforme digitale pour ses employés et clients ;
- Accélérer le lancement de projets en étant proche de l’écosystème digital avec un accélérateur de startups ;
- Promouvoir et véhiculer la culture digitale ainsi que les technologies du numérique avec une Digital Academy ;
- Soutenir une expertise avérée dans des domaines clés (l’intelligence artificielle, l’UX design, la cybersécurité ou encore la connectivité) par l’intermédiaire de MVP (Minimum Valuable Product) qui déterminent la phase de lancement ou non des projets en quelques semaines, contre plusieurs années avec une organisation classique.
