Au-delà du charisme et de l’expertise apportés par les grands chefs, certaines émissions de cuisine sont orchestrées de manière à ce que le suspens s’installe toutes les semaines. Le téléspectateur est tenu en haleine jusqu’au dernier moment.
Elles sont comparables à une série dans laquelle on suit à chaque nouvel épisode les péripéties des participants et partage avec eux leurs joies mais également leurs désillusions. Avec des candidats sympathiques choisis sur-mesure, le téléspectateur se prend d’affection pour eux et s’y attache comme aux personnages de sa série préférée.
