L’ePremier League : comment ça marche ?
Contrairement à l’e-Ligue 1 qui se compose d’un tournoi printemps et d’un tournoi d’hiver, l’ePremier League ne se déroule que sur une « saison » par an.
- Step 1 : les qualifications. Depuis le 5 janvier, les joueurs de 16 ans et plus, habitant en Angleterre, s’affrontent sur PS4 ou Xbox One pour représenter leur équipe préférée lors de ce tournoi. Chaque équipe de Premier League choisira 16 joueurs de PS4 et 16 joueurs de Xbox One.
- Step 2 : les PlaysOff ou éliminatoires. Entre février et mars, les présélectionnés s’affronteront le temps d’un après-midi pour désigner pour chaque club un représentant sur PlayStation et un sur Xbox.
- Step 3 : la finale. Celle-ci se déroulera à Londres sur deux jours. Elle sera retransmise en direct sur les réseaux sociaux de BPL et de Sky Sports. Les matchs se dérouleront sur deux manches dans un format de phase de groupes sur PS4 et Xbox One afin de déterminer LE grand champion.
Voici de quoi vous mettre l’eau à la bouche. (Sorry c’est que pour les bilingues.)
Vous l’aurez compris, le seul petit bémol est qu’il faut impérativement résider en Angleterre. Si vous habitez en France, vous pouvez toujours tenter l’e-Ligue 1.
L’ePremier League pour relancer les ventes de FIFA 19 ?
Effectivement, depuis quelques années, on observe une croissance exponentielle de l’e-sport, il est donc judicieux pour le grand rival de PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) de s’implanter sur ce marché. Selon le magazine Forbes, ce marché aurait augmenté de 38 % en 2018. Il valait près de 905 millions de dollars en 2018 et devrait valoir entre 1,2 et 1,5 milliards de dollars en 2020. En termes de téléspectateurs, on en attendrait pas moins de 300 millions en 2020.
Mais ce n’est pas tout ; les ventes de FIFA 19 en Angleterre cette année ont subi une baisse dramatique de 25 % comparées à celles de FIFA 18 l’an passé. Un tournoi d’e-sport pourrait donc être un très bon moyen de les relancer.
De plus, la promotion de cet événement a été très largement favorisée par quelques grands clubs de PL, qui ont poussé leurs supporters à s’inscrire pour défendre leur couleur, donc indirectement à acheter le jeu. On pense notamment au Chelsea FC qui a réalisé un spot des plus sensationnels avec ses joueurs vedettes et une légende du club Gianfranco Zola.
Gloire, notoriété, money price, places gratuites pour tous les matchs de la saison ? On ne sait pas vraiment quelle sera la récompense de celui qui portera son club sur la plus haute marche de cette toute première ePremier League. Ce qui est sûr, c’est qu’il obtiendra une reconnaissance éternelle (ou au moins annuelle) de celui-ci.
