Eau by mcdo : une solution pour l’environnement ?
En 2021 McDonald’s se veut plus écologique en supprimant les bouteilles d’eau de Badoit et d’Evian de ses Menus pour créer leur propre eau appelée ”Eau by Mcdo”. Une mesure qui vient compléter l’abandon des plastiques jetables (pailles, couverts etc.) prévu par la loi anti-gaspillage.
En effet le géant américain se vantait de réduire considérablement la distribution de bouteille 
en plastique, de quoi satisfaire les défenseurs de l’environnement. Mais ce n’est pas au goût de tout le monde.
On peut retrouver « l’Eau by McDo » sous la forme plate, pétillante ou aromatisée, filtrée et vendue dans des gobelets en carton à 2,30€ pour le verre d’eau moyen et 2,70€ pour le grand verre.

En septembre 2021 le géant américain a remué la toile et notamment sur Twitter.
La multinationale est accusée d’arnaquer ses consommateurs en pratiquant du greenwashing, l’initiative de faire disparaître le plastique est bonne mais elle en tire profit en vendant très cher leur eau jusqu’à 7€ le litre. De plus l’eau vendue n’est que de l’eau du robinet filtrée.
En effet, un salarié de l’entreprise a affirmé que l’Eau by Mcdo :
”C’est de l’eau du robinet qui passe dans un filtre et que l’on vend entre 5€ et 7€ le litre”, il finira par ajouter ”la plus grosse arnaque du siècle”.
L’adjoint à la mairie de Paris Dan Lert, également président d’Eau de Paris, entreprise publique qui gère l’eau potable dans la capitale, a aussi dénoncé cette pratique : «Les calculs sont pas bons McDonald’s : l’eau by McDo : 7 € le litre. L’eau by Eau de Paris : 0,003€ le litre», a-t-il souligné sur Twitter.
Pour justifier son prix l’entreprise américaine a annoncé que ce n’était pas de l’eau du robinet ordinaire mais filtré et que l’on peut la personnaliser en ajoutant des arômes par exemple.
McDonald’s fait donc payer de l’eau du robinet ?
Une pratique qui est immorale mais néanmoins légale, la direction générale de la concurrence, de la consommation et de la répression des fraudes rappelle que le verre d’eau gratuit n’est pas obligatoire dans tous les établissements comme dans les cafés ou les bars.
En revanche pour les restaurants : selon l’arrêté n°25-268 du 8 juin 1967 l’entreprise ne doit pas facturer la carafe d’eau du robinet que l’on prend avec son repas. Le texte précise « que le prix du repas comporte obligatoirement le couvert, à savoir le pain, l’eau ordinaire, les épices ou ingrédients, la vaisselle, verrerie, serviettes, etc., qui sont usuellement mis à la disposition du client à l’occasion du repas. »
Plus qu’à demander une carafe d’eau du robinet chez Mcdonald’s !
