De couleur verte, noire et blanche, les trottinettes électriques de Lime font leur apparition en France depuis cet été. Les utilisateurs de l’application peuvent ainsi géolocaliser, emprunter et redéposer où bon leur semble ce nouveau moyen de transport à la mode.
Retour sur le lancement de ce concept, qui est déjà valorisé à plus d’1 milliard de dollar.
Lime cherche à révolutionner les transports de courtes distances. Cette start-up californienne souhaite effectivement réduire la dépendance automobile dans une optique de protection de l’environnement.
Le concept est simple : les utilisateurs de Lime doivent disposer de l’application sur laquelle la création d’un compte et l’ajout d’un moyen de paiement sont nécessaires.
Chaque location coûte 1€ au départ. Pendant la course, chaque minute est facturée 0,15€. L’autonomie de la trottinette s’étend jusqu’à 50km et elle peut même faire une petite pointe de vitesse jusqu’à 24km/h. Elles ont été développées en partenariat avec Segway.
Les recharges de ces deux roues électriques sont opérées par Lime ou par des particuliers qui, acceptant de les recharger chez eux, reçoivent une rémunération en contrepartie.
Une fois la trottinette géolocalisée à quelques mètres de chez vous, il vous suffit simplement de scanner le QR code présent sur le guidon pour activer la location et commencer votre déplacement.
Encombrement des rues : la zone d’ombre de cette mobilité facilité
Bien que ce nouveau moyen de transport connaisse une ascension remarquable, la réglementation a du mal à suivre le rythme de cet engouement.
L’envahissement de ces deux roues entraîne la cohue dans les rues des métropoles dans lesquelles elles circulent.
Doivent-elles rouler sur la chaussée? Piste cyclable? Ou bien sur le trottoir? La réglementation est encore floue à ce sujet.
Il semblerait tout de même qu’une vitesse de 6km/h se doit d’être respectée sur les zones piétonnes – y compris les trottoirs – sous peine d’amendes.
Une idée simple et révolutionnaire, surveillée de près par les géants
Lime est déjà implantée dans plus de soixante villes américaines. Son offensive européenne a commencé depuis juin dernier. Une réelle success story qui ne semble pas vouloir s’arrêter là. En effet, Lime a récemment implanté des vélos électriques nommés LimeBikes à Londres et compte aller encore plus loin avec ses LimePods à Seattle.
Les LimesPods sont des Fiat 500 aux couleurs de Lime soit la couleur verte et jaune. D’ici 2019, 1500 citadines seront déployées dans Seattle. Le principe sera le même qu’avec les vélos ou les trottinettes : il faudra simplement géolocaliser ces voitures via l’application.
Le coût de la location de départ reste à 1€. Chaque minute d’utilisation sera facturée 0,40€.
En revanche, ces voitures ne sont pas électriques. Elles fonctionnent avec de l’essence classique. Il y a donc ici une problématique autour du plein de carburant. Il est effectivement plus contraignant de déplacer plusieurs voitures en même temps. Lime cherche d’ailleurs la solution optimale à ce sujet.
La start-up Lime a réalisée plusieurs levées de fond à hauteur de 335 millions de dollars notamment auprès d’Alphabet, la maison mère de Google et également auprès d’Uber.
Une rumeur dirait même que Uber serait en négociation avancée avec Lime afin de devenir leader sur la plateforme de la mobilité courtes/longues distances. L’idée serait même de faire participer les chauffeurs d’Uber qui pourraient récupérer les trottinettes en les déplaçant dans leurs coffres.
Une vraie synergie entre facilité et écologie, Lime est un projet à suivre de très près et qui continuera à coup sûr d’augmenter sa valorisation.
