Le repas de Noel est connu dans le monde entier et est d’usage dans l’ensemble des pays de l’Europe. Le fait de se retrouver autour d’un bon repas chaleureux, en famille ou entre amis est commun à tous les pays d’Europe. Mais chacun possède ses spécialités, ses coutumes.
Nous allons donc voyager dans 5 pays différents d’Europe afin d’observer les différents repas typiques.
Prenons par exemple, l’Allemagne :
Le Christsollen est un pain aux raisons ou fruits secs confits farci de pâtes d’amandes et c’est le gâteau de Noël par excellence que l’on retrouve traditionnellement dans tous les foyers allemands.
Le repas de Noel traditionnel Allemand ne peut pas être mangé sans le plat principal : une oie rôtie ou farcie qui s’accompagne généralement de légumes et de fruits comme par exemple des chou rouge, haricots verts avec des pommes.
Le Portugal :
Le repas de Noel au Portugal n’est pas forcément un repas majestueux comme on pourrait le penser. On y mange principalement le bacalhau cozido c’est à dire de la morue accompagnée de pommes de terre mais aussi du chou et de l’huile d’olive.
On peut également y retrouver du chevreau rôti et des pousses de navets.Une attention particulière est portée au dessert : des fruits, de l’arroz dose (riz au lait), un bol Rei (gâteau des rois), ou encore des Filhos (des beignets portugais sucrés)
Le Royaume-Uni :
Le repas typique de Noel des Anglais est constitué d’un dinde qui est souvent farcie aux marrons. Très souvent cette dinde est accompagnée de pommes de terre, de carottes ou bien encore de choux de Bruxelles. Tout ceci accompagné d’une sauce aux cranberries pour ajouter un peu de sucré.
En fin de repas, le moment tant attendu : le dessert. Place au « Plus pudding » qui est un gâteau à base de mie de pain, fruits secs et noix macérés depuis plusieurs mois qui précédent le soir de Noel dans le rhum.
L’Irlande :
En ce qui concerne le repas de Noel typique en Irlande il est composé généralement d’un jambon rôti accompagné d’une farce au pain.
On y retrouve également des pommes de terre rôties, de la purée de pommes de terre ainsi que du jus de viande. Parfois on peut retrouver de la sauce à la canneberge ou au pain.
Mais ce n’est pas tout. Pour compléter ce plat déjà bien lourd, on savoure souvent un boeuf épicé qui peut être servi chaud ou froid.
Après ce plat très copieux, c’est le moment du dessert : un gâteau à forme ronce rempli de graines de cumin. Mais on peut aussi retrouver un pudding avec une sauce au beurre au sherry, ou encore des tartes à la viande.
Vous l’aurez compris, les repas de Noel en Irlande sont tout sauf légers!
Pour terminer notre petit tour de l’Europe, voyons le repas de Noel typique en Italie :
Pour le repas de Noel en Italie, les plats vont dépendre de la région concernée. En effet, si nous nous trouvons dans le Nord de l’Italie, alors ce sera de la volaille souvent fourrée ou rôtie. Celle ci est assaisonnée avec des sauces pour éviter que la viande soit trop sèche.
Dans le sud de l’Italie, on trouvera plutôt de l’anguille capitole frite, qui est typique de la veille de Noel car c’est un jour de jeûne ne l’oublions pas.
Dans les deux régions, on y retrouve généralement le primo italien qui est une sorte de soupe à base de pâtes fourrées comme des tortellinis cuites avec un bouillon de viande.
La messe à une place très importante en Italie surtout le soir de Noel. Lorsqu’on revient de la messe, les italiens vont boire une tasse de chocolat chaud et mange une part du gâteau de Noel traditionnel : le Panettone (une génoise aux fruits secs)
