En milieu de semaine, Novak Djokovic s’est rendu en Australie après avoir obtenu une exemption médicale à l’obligation vaccinale pour participer à l’Open d’Australie, premier tournois du Grand Chelem de la saison.
Les avocats du tennisman ont fait état d’un test positif au Covid-19 le 16 décembre dernier pour justifier de cette exemption médicale.
Mais voilà, le numéro 1 mondial était présent le 17 décembre à une cérémonie en l’honneur des jeunes joueurs serbes.
Le joueur a également assisté le jour de son test positif à un autre évènement public : la présentation d’un timbre hommage à son effigie par la poste serbe.
Djokovic à publié une photo de cette journée sur ses réseaux sociaux.
Beaucoup de personnes ce sont donc questionnés : pourquoi le joueur de tennis s’est il rendu à ces évènements, sans masque et sans distanciation s’il était positif au covid ?
Djokovic s’est alors défendu « j’étais asymptomatique (…) et n’ai reçu l’information de mon test PCR positif qu’une fois l’évènement terminé » mais ces propos n’ont guère convaincu.
Mise en rétention du joueur Serbe
Une fois arrivé en Australie, le jeune Serbe à été placé en centre de rétention à Melbourne dans l’attente de l’examen de son recours lundi matin dernier.
Le juge a finalement ordonné la libération du joueur, cependant il n’était pas encore à l’abri d’une expulsion.
Selon les avocats du sportif celui-ci serait « complètement confus » face à cette situation.
Nouvelle annulation de son visa
Alex Hawke, le ministre de l’immigration Australienne a finalement décidé d’annuler, vendredi 14 janvier, une nouvelle fois le visa de Djokovic, jugeant le fait que le joueur ne soit pas vacciné pourrait poser un risque pour la communauté.
Le joueur a alors fait appel.

Nouveau rebondissement ce dimanche, la Cour fédérale australienne a rejeté le recours de Novak Djokovic.
Les trois juges de la Cour ont statué à l’unanimité l’expulsion du joueur.
Autorisé à quitter le centre de rétention où il a été placé samedi, Djokovic a suivi l’audience en ligne, qui a duré quatre heures. Celui-ci s’est finalement exprimé à la suite du verdict :
« Je suis extrêmement déçu de la décision de la Cour de rejeter mon appel de la décision du ministre d’annuler mon visa » écrit le joueur. « Je respecte la décision de la Cour et je vais coopérer avec les autorités compétentes en ce qui concerne mon départ du pays« .
L’Open d’Australie se déroulera donc sans son numéro un mondial.
