QUI SONT MCFLY ET CARLITO ?
Deux amis d’enfance fans de rock et un peu déjantés qui se lancent dans la création de contenu sur Youtube et vivent une véritable success story. C’est un peu ce qui résume le parcours de McFly et Carlito.
David (McFly) et Raphaël (Carlito) ont commencé leur carrière dans la radio avant de gagner en notoriété grâce à la chaîne YouTube Golden Moustache. En 2016, le duo lance sa première chaîne YouTube : McFly et Carlito. Très créatifs, les deux compères ont imaginé différents concepts de vidéos à succès.
« Le meilleur jeu en voiture », « Mario carte bleue », « On crée des chansons en impro », « On appelle des gens au hasard dans nos téléphones »… Grâce à leurs vidéos variées et humoristiques, la chaîne YouTube s’est fait connaître et compte aujourd’hui plus de 6 millions d’abonnés !
Une notoriété grandissante qui a permis au duo d’accueillir des invités prestigieux : Pierre Niney, David Guetta, Will Smith, Gad Elmaleh, Patrick Fiori et bien d’autres.
Dernièrement, McFly et Carlito se sont illustrés grâce au « Maradon« . En période de Covid19, les deux amis ont organisé un live sur YouTube pour lever des fonds pour soutenir les soignants en cette période de pandémie. Au total, plus de 400 000 euros ont été récoltés en quelques 11h de vidéo. Une belle performance, largement saluée et qui a peut-être participé à attirer l’attention de l’Elysée.

C’est dans une vidéo publiée sur sa chaîne Youtube que le duo a annoncé la grande nouvelle : le président Macron leur a lancé un défi ! Quel défi ? Créer une vidéo pour rappeler les gestes barrières et l’importance de les respecter pour vaincre la pandémie.

Les deux youtubeurs, conscients de l’impact qu’une telle vidéo pourrait avoir, ont imposé leurs conditions : « on songe à le faire […] si et seulement si avec Emanuel Macron on fait un concours d’anecdote ». Et à leur grande surprise, leur demande a été acceptée. Si leur vidéo obtient au moins 10 millions de vues, McFly et Carlito recevront le président pour un concours d’anecdotes, un format populaire dans lequel ils ont déjà invité plusieurs célébrités. Un beau défi pour les deux amis, dont toutes les vidéos n’atteignent pas ce nombre de vues malgré leurs 6 millions d’abonnés.
Le dimanche 21 février, la vidéo « Je me souviens » est publiée sur YouTube. C’est en chanson que le duo a décidé de répondre au défi lancé par le président. Toujours sur un ton humoristique, McFly et Carlito chantent pendant 4 minutes l’importance de respecter les gestes barrières, sans pour autant être moralisateurs. Une vidéo dans la veine de ce qu’ils ont l’habitude de faire et qui reprend leurs codes habituels.

Les deux amis ont également précisé que tous les sous générés par la vidéo seraient reversés à une association pour les étudiants, population fortement touchée par la crise du Covid.
Mais avec 7 millions de vues en moins de 48h, le défi pourra-t-il être relevé ?
DÉFI RELEVÉ
C’est dans la nuit du 23 au 24 février 2021 que les 10 millions de vues ont été atteints. Le défi a donc été relevé en à peine 3 jours, une belle réussite pour le duo. Malgré l’heure tardive, McFly et Carlito ont assisté à l’événement en direct, dans un live sur Instagram. Une vidéo dans laquelle ils partagent leur joie, leur excitation, mais aussi leur appréhension face à l’opportunité qui leur est offerte.
Le lendemain, c’est par le biais d’un post que les deux youtubeurs ont choisi de remercier leur communauté et toutes les personnes ayant participé à l’atteinte de leur objectif. Ils ont également annoncé la récolte de 30 000€ au profit d’une association aidant les étudiants précaires.

Une fois encore, les deux amis ont souhaité rappeler qu’ils avaient réalisé cette vidéo uniquement dans un but de divertissement, tout en effectuant un acte citoyen :
« Une fois de plus, nous nous tenons à distance de toute dimension politique, gardez votre esprit critique intact. Notre motivation est citoyenne et artistique, nous donnons notre maximum dans ce sens. »
Mais cette explication n’a pas convaincu tout le monde.
UN DÉFI QUI FAIT PARLER
Bien qu’un défi lancé par le président lui-même soit une belle opportunité pour les deux youtubeurs, la politisation possible de ce projet pose des questions : « Evidemment que c’est politique, évidemment que c’est malin, y a de la stratégie derrière, […] il y a les élections dans un an » admet Carlito.
Les deux amis ne sont pas dupes sur les intentions du gouvernement et ont souhaité mettre les choses au clair dans leur vidéo.
« On ne souhaite pas faire de la politique, […] ce n’est pas notre volonté, ce n’est pas notre vision. Mais quoi qu’on fasse, ce sera transféré comme ça : il y aura des articles, des médias, des tweets ».
Bien conscients des critiques qu’ils pourraient recevoir pour cette vidéo, McFly et Carlito ont quand même choisi de relever le défi.
Et les deux amis ne s’étaient pas trompés. Quelques heures à peine après l’annonce du défi, des centaines de tweets et de mèmes sur le sujet ont vu le jour. Le projet amuse autant qu’il questionne et est critiqué, mais le moins que l’on puisse dire, c’est qu’il ne laisse pas indifférent.
