Qui ne rêve pas d’eau turquoise pour ses vacances au soleil ? Probablement pas grand monde. Mais pourquoi aller aux Maldives quand le Sud-Est Français a tant à offrir ?
Les calanques marseillaises sont un petit joyau français et ça, beaucoup de touristes l’ont bien compris. Surtout l’été passé. Les conditions sanitaires ont poussé les français à rester en France et donc, naturellement, les plages du Sud-Est se sont retrouvées vite envahies. Seulement voilà, les calanques, ce petit paradis sur Terre n’est pas en capacité d’accueillir autant de touristes. Exiguës et fragiles, ce trop plein de monde les met en danger.
C’est pourquoi, depuis quelques semaines, le parc national des Calanques a décidé de lancer une opération de démarketing. L’objectif de cette campagne est de montrer la réalité que sont devenues les calanques en été; de montrer l’envers du décors.
« L’objectif n’est pas de dégouter les gens mais de les informer sur la réalité. A long terme, nous espérons voir la fréquentation se stabiliser puis descendre », se justifie Zacharie Bruyas, en charge de la communication.
Premier fait marquant, des photos présentant les calanques bondées ont remplacé les photos paradisiaques qui alimentaient avant la partie “plages et baignade” du site. De plus, le texte fait tout pour calmer les envies de potentiels touristes.
- “Massif montagneux en bord de mer, les Calanques offrent peu de plages. Situées au creux des criques, dénuées d’équipements, elles sont souvent difficiles d’accès, exiguës et prises d’assaut pendant la période estivale.”
- “Tous les lieux de baignade populaires du Parc national (Saint-Estève, Sormiou, Sugiton, En-Vau, Port-Pin, Figuerolles…) sont difficiles d’accès, de taille réduite et sur fréquentés en été. Dans la plupart des cas, vous n’y trouverez ni commerces, ni points d’eau, ni toilettes, ni poubelles.”
- “Des accidents mortels sont hélas à déplorer chaque année.”
D’autres actions vont être mises en place pour lutter contre cette “surfréquentation” qui a atteint, à l’été 2020, un « cap inquiétant », selon les termes d’un rapport présenté à son conseil d’administration, le 10 décembre 2020. Il faut savoir que certaines calanques ont vécu des pics à 3 000 visiteurs par jour et 2,3 baigneurs par mètre carré de plage. Deux fois plus que l’année précédente.
« Nous avons validé une mosaïque de mesures, qui doit permettre de maîtriser l’attrait du territoire », explique le directeur du parc, François Bland. Le plan d’orientation triennal 2020-2023 inclut également un nouveau dispositif de mouillage en mer et une volonté marquée de faire reculer la pression automobile aux abords du territoire protégé, et notamment sur le littoral sud de Marseille.« Il faut rendre l’accès plus difficile. L’expérience calanques doit se mériter », insiste Didier Réault, vice-président (Les Républicains) du conseil départemental des Bouches-du-Rhône.
Prochain point à aborder donc, diminuer l’accès en voiture. Peu de places sont proposées, ce qui provoque très rapidement de longues minutes de bouchons, créant parfois un trajet de plus de 2h de jusqu’au centre ville de Marseille. L’idée est de montrer ces longues files pour favoriser et développer l’accès en bus, en vélo ou encore à pied.
Le but est, dans un premier temps, de stabiliser puis, par la suite, de faire diminuer le nombre de visiteurs. Étant actuellement d’environ 3 000 000 par an (le tout concentré en grande partie sur la période estivale). Il faut savoir qu’en 2012, lors de son ouverture, le parc recevait 1 000 000 de visiteurs uniquement.
Pour le moment, pas question de faire payer les visiteurs. Ce n’est pas la philosophie des parcs français, mais la mise en place d’un “permis de visite” est à l’étude.
Une action sur les réseaux sociaux a également lieu, invitant les visiteurs à ne pas mentionner de géolocalisation sur leurs posts. En effet, ces photos présentent souvent les calanques sous leurs meilleurs jours, sans avertir de ce qu’il se passe derrière, des centaines d’autres touristes, des dizaines de bateaux gâchant la vue, des heures de marches en milieu technique pour arriver jusque là…
