Khaby Lame est né le 9 mars 2000 au Sénégal, à l’âge d’un an, il rejoint l’Europe et s’installe avec ses parents à Chivasso, en Italie. Avant de devenir influenceur sur TikTok, Lame travaille comme opérateur d’une machine CNC dans une société de matériel numérique dans le sud d’Italie et se retrouve au chômage suite à la crise sanitaire.
C’est donc grâce à la Covid-19 que ce jeune homme de 22 ans a rencontré la route du succès. Confiné et inactif, il s’est jeté à corps perdu sur TikTok lors du premier confinement, avec une proposition à la fois simple et drôle : tourner en ridicule les défis réalisés par d’autres utilisateurs de la célèbre plateforme.
Sa signature ? Le silence et une expression faciale unique, Khaby Lame ne parle dans aucune de ces vidéos, il mise sur ses expressions de visage et sur une gestuelle proche du mime. Avec pour seul objectif de divertir les gens tout en dénonçant à quel point certaines vidéos du réseau, bien souvent créées pour générer du clic, nous prennent pour des jambons.
Son Tik-Tok le plus populaire ? Sa réponse à une vidéo tutoriel de découpe de bananes au couteau. La solution du jeune homme est bien plus simple : épluchez-la avec vos mains. La simple expression de son visage désabusé, provoque l’hilarité.
