La « Puff » ou « Wpuff », nouveau phénomène de société
Encore inconnue du grand public il y a quelques mois, c’est par le biais du réseau social « Tik Tok » que cette marque de cigarette électronique s’est fait connaitre. Sa particularité ? Outre son design flashy et ses goûts tendances, cette vapoteuse se veut à usage unique !
Un Greenwashing à peine dissimulé
Pour comprendre l’étendu du désastre, intéressons-nous à la composition d’une « Puff » :
- Un réservoir plastique contenant entre 1 et 2 ml de liquide, selon le modèle choisis (300 bouffées ou 600 bouffées) ;
- Une batterie lithium pré-chargée ;
- Une résistance pour la vaporisation du liquide ;
- Une cartouche en aluminium servant de coque pour protéger les éléments internes.
Fabriquée en Chine, il est donc aberrant de voir le coût écologique de ce produit jetable !
Sur les emballages ainsi que dans les différentes communications de la marque, vous verrez la mention « Wpuff est recyclable à 95,8% ». Hormis le fait de cette absurdité devrait être à 100% recyclable, il subsiste un autre problème : le recyclage de cette cigarette électronique ne s’applique qu’à partir de boîtes de recyclage de la marque.
Or, l’immense majorité des consommateurs ne prennent pas la peine d’effectuer cette démarche de recyclage, préférant au mieux la jeter dans une poubelle noire, au pire à même le sol.
Un manque cruel d’éthique
Évoqué précédemment, ces cigarettes d’un nouveau genre arborent une robe très flashy et proposent des goûts dignes des plus grands glaciers : Choco-noisette, Mashmallow, Zumba Caféo et Ice cream coco ne sont qu’un échantillon de l’étendu des goûts disponibles.
La marque reprend les codes couleurs d’une célèbre pâte à tartiner
Vous l’aurez compris, la marque s’adresse principalement aux jeunes adolescents. La polémique autour de cette marque prend alors une tournure de santé publique : en effet la vente de produit contenant de la nicotine, et plus largement de produits liés au vapotage, est strictement interdite aux mineurs.
Disponible en ligne, en grandes surfaces et auprès de certains bureaux de tabac peu scrupuleux, les jeunes n’ont aucun mal à se procurer cet objet devenu un véritable marqueur social dans les cours de récré.
Solution créée pour aider les fumeurs à progressivement arrêter le tabagisme, la puff détourne l’utilité première de la cigarette électronique pour atteindre un public non-fumeur. Il faut donc s’inquiéter du risque de dépendance induit par un tel produit.
Sous le feu des critiques
D’abord sur les réseaux sociaux puis dans les médias, c’est à présent devant le gouvernement que le sujet fait débat. C’est lors de la traditionnelle séance de « questions au gouvernement » du mardi 15 février que la députée Sophie Métadier (UDI) a tenue à interpeller Sarah El Haïri, secrétaire d’état chargée de la jeunesse.

« Les jeunes consommateurs ont l’impression de juste inhaler une vapeur fruitée, c’est agréable et on ne sent pas le tabac. Seulement voilà, avec un taux de nicotine allant jusqu’à 2%, la dépendance à la nicotine peut arriver en quelques mois seulement » met en garde la députée.
Il ne reste plus qu’à espérer que le gouvernement prenne des mesures visant à endiguer ce phénomène, qui ne cesse de prendre de l’ampleur.
