Est-ce à cause de la soi-disant Magie du sport ou suite aux nombreuses surprises inattendues que nous a offert cette coupe du monde ? Pour y voir plus clair, un retour sur ces 30 derniers jours de coupe du monde.
Samedi 10 décembre, près de 18 millions de téléspectateurs de TF1 ont suivi la qualification de la France face à l’Angleterre. Malgré les appels au boycott, l’enthousiasme pour la Coupe du Monde est indéniable. Un phénomène qu’on ne saurait pas expliquer, alors qu’un sondage révélait, le mois dernier, que seuls 45 % des Français avaient l’intention de regarder la Coupe du monde.
Mercredi 14 décembre 2022, 20,7 millions de Français ont suivi la demi-finale qui opposait l’équipe de France au Maroc.
D’après la presse électronique le Monde, le Dimanche 18 décembre “24,08 millions de téléspectateurs ont, en moyenne sur les cent vingt minutes qu’a duré la finale de la Coupe du monde de football opposant l’Argentine à la France, cessé toute activité pour rester concentrés sur un objectif resté hors de portée. Un « record d’audience absolu ». Cela signifie que 81 % des Français de 4 ans et plus qui ont regardé la télévision entre 16 heures et 19 heures étaient devant TF1.”.
Enfin, plus de 24 millions de téléspectateurs devant la finale, dont un pic à 29 millions, le record d’audience, de toute l’histoire de la télévision française, a été battu. Les appels aux boycotts n’ont donc pas réellement été respectés.
Il convient de souligner que nous vivons actuellement dans une ère où les boycotts ne fonctionnent plus comme avant. Le boycott est un mode d’action Has-been et qui n’a plus vraiment de poids aujourd’hui. En effet, nous vivons aujourd’hui dans un monde tout à fait lugubre. Le réchauffement climatique, le Covid-19, la guerre en Ukraine… dans ce contexte, les grands événements sportifs servent d’un échappatoire à la triste réalité qui nous entoure . Raisons pour lesquelles le boycott ne pouvait pas fonctionner : il fallait que les gens se rassemblent, fassent la fête et sortent de cet environnement morose. En outre, remarquons qu’il y a très peu d’événements qui permettent à la société de « se donner à la fête » comme cela.
Les supporters ont pu s’amuser et célébrer le grand voyage de leur équipe. C’était à chacun des citoyens de faire la part des choses et de séparer soutien de son équipe à critiques du Qatar et de la Fifa. Regarder le mondial, ne signifie pas être complices de l’organisateur, bien au contraire, en avoir conscience a déjà été une victoire en soi.
Alors, oui, le boycottage a été un échec de taille, mais au moins la sensibilisation était là. Partout en France, les gens ont regardé cette compétition en toute connaissance de cause, en ayant conscience de ce qu’il s’y passait réellement.
