Octobre dernier, Coca-Cola a annoncé deux de ses innovations pour 2022 : l’utilisation de plastique 100% recyclé pour ses bouteilles 50cl ainsi que le passage au bouchon attaché sur l’ensemble de ses bouteilles en plastique.

Considérée comme le premier pollueur plastique par l’ONG Break Free From Plastic et pour faire face aux nombreuses accusations de défense de l’environnement, Coca-Cola se doit de réagir et de s’engager.
Décembre dernier, la multinationale avait fixé son ambition de neutralité carbone « Net Zéro » d’ici 2040 et avait annoncé investir près de 250 millions d’euros sur 3 ans pour accélérer la décarbonisation de ses activités. Plusieurs changements avaient été initiés avec par exemple la suppression progressive des sur-emballages sur leurs lots en cannettes.

L’arrivée des bouchons attachés
Même si toutes leurs bouteilles sont 100% recyclables depuis de nombreuses années, Coca-Cola est forcé de constater que beaucoup ne sont toujours pas collectées. Afin de faciliter la collecte et le recyclage des bouchons, la marque a donc pris la décision de modifier son packaging. Fini les bouchons perdus, qui traînent, et qui ne sont pas recyclés avec leurs bouteilles ! Les bouchons directement attachés aux bouteilles apparaîtront progressivement dans les rayons à partir de la fin d’année 2022.
Une composition 100% plastique recyclé pour ses bouteilles de 50cl
Une bonne nouvelle n’arrive jamais seule ! Dès avril 2022, c’est l’ensemble des bouteilles en plastique de 50cl des marques Coca-Cola Original, Sans Sucres, Light, Sprite et Fanta qui seront fabriquées à partir de plastique 100% recyclé (rPET). Quels sont les bénéfices affichés ? Une diminution de 70% de l’empreinte carbone de chaque bouteille…
Par ailleurs, l’intention de l’enseigne est de parvenir à 100% d’utilisation de plastique recyclé d’ici 2030 sur l’ensemble des bouteilles de son portefeuille. Un objectif qui parviendrait à supprimer plus de 200 000 tonnes de plastique vierge* utilisé par an en Europe.
