J-497. Dans moins de deux ans, une horde de spectateurs venus du monde entier foulera les rues de Paris.
Le comité d’organisation Paris 2024 promet des Jeux olympiques, plus écologiques que jamais. C’est d’ailleurs l’un des facteurs qui a fait pencher la balance du côté bleu, blanc, rouge.
« Les Jeux de Paris sont le premier événement sportif international à porter l’ambition de neutralité carbone et à construire une méthode inédite pour réduire de moitié les émissions de CO2 par rapport aux Jeux de Londres (2012). Ce seront les premiers Jeux alignés sur l’Accord de Paris pour le Climat signé par 195 pays en 2016. Ainsi, l’empreinte carbone des Jeux de Paris sera réduite de 55 % en comparaison avec ceux de Londres. ». Telles sont les ambitions de la ville lumière. Pour cela, Paris mise sur 4 leviers principaux : prioriser la sobriété et l’utilité, mettre l’innovation au service de la responsabilité, mettre la durabilité au cœur du projet, soutenir des projets de contribution climatique.
Paris 2024 : de véritables atouts…
La capitale française a effectivement des atouts. 90 % des infrastructures étaient déjà présentes avant l’officialisation des jeux, limitant ainsi l’impact écologique engendré par les constructions. De plus, pour les nouveaux bâtiments, les normes se veulent strictes. La construction du futur village olympique par exemple, qui se situera entre Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen et l’Île Saint-Denis, émet 50 % démission de carbone en moins comparé à du bâti classique. Un point positif donc pour ces Jeux 2024 car toutes les éditions n’ont pas suivi le même modèle. En effet, pour les JO de Rio de Janeiro en 2016, de nombreuses infrastructures ont dû être construites pour l’occasion sans grande considération pour l’environnement. Un golf a même été érigé sur une zone naturelle protégée, obligeant ainsi les espèces naturelles vivant sur le terrain à fuir la zone.
Paris promet également de transformer dès fin 2024 tous les bâtiments construits pour l’occasion en logements sociaux.
… et des détracteurs
Sur le papier, donc, Paris 2024 s’apparente à un enfant modèle des JO. Néanmoins, des voix s’élèvent d’ores et déjà pour annoncer une mauvaise gestion écologique mais aussi social. Bien que peu de bâtiments soient construits pour l’occasion, c’est toute la ville de Paris, mais aussi le département de Seine-Saint-Denis qui sont transformés faciliter le déroulement des JO. De même, certains s’inquiètent que les nouvelles infrastructures ne profitent pas aux populations locales, mais engendrent plutôt un phénomène de gentficiation.
Catastrophe écologique ou nouvelle ère pour les Jeux Olympiques ? Rien n’est encore assuré. Rendez-vous donc en 2024 !
