Connaissez-vous le Black Friday ? Importé des Etat-Unis par Amazon en 2013, cette journée de soldes a conquis le cœur de nombreux consommateurs français en un temps record.
Prévu pour le vendredi 27 novembre 2020, le Black Friday fait parler de lui cette année. Pointé du doigt par de nombreuses personnalités et associations qui souhaitent dénoncer la consommation excessive liée à cet événement, il serait même en passe d’être interdit prochainement. Pas plus tard que l’année dernière en France, la secrétaire d’Etat à la Transition écologique Brune Poirson appelait les Français à « sortir d’une économie mortifère et un peu absurde ». La ministre de l’écologie voulait, elle, convaincre de consommer autrement.
En 2020, si le fait de faire de bonnes affaires avant Noël pourrait-être tentant, de plus en plus de français tendent à consommer de façon davantage raisonnée et responsable. Et cela est d’autant plus vrai depuis l’arrivée de l’épidémie de coronavirus !
Ces derniers mois ont effectivement été source d’interrogations et de remises en question sur la façon dont nous consommons au quotidien. Le respect et la préservation de l’environnement sont des préoccupations de plus en plus présentes dans la tête de nombreux individus. Actuellement, le confinement ne fait qu’accélérer les choses : les français sont de plus en plus nombreux à souhaiter soutenir les petites enseignes et marques françaises en revoyant leur consommation à la baisse et en achetant moins mais mieux, auprès d’enseignes locales et responsables.
Amazon a d’ailleurs dû suspendre sa campagne pré black Friday il y a quelques jours, afin de ne pas faire de concurrence déloyale aux commerces français. En effet, dans le contexte actuel, la plupart de ces commerces, dits « non essentiels », se sont vues contraints de fermer leurs portes avant les fêtes de fin d’année.
Black Friday : origines et constat
Mais quelles sont les origines du black Friday ? Chaque année, après le traditionnel repas de Thanksgiving qui se déroule un jeudi, la plupart des américains posaient, auprès de leur employeur, leur vendredi afin de bénéficier d’un week-end prolongé. Profitant de ce jour « off », les commerçants eurent l’idée de lancer la période des achats de Noël à cette date, afin que les américains se rendent en magasin, attirés par les promotions et rabais de ce fameux vendredi de novembre. Le Black Friday désignait donc les grands axes routiers noirs de monde, chaque vendredi faisant suite à Thanksgiving.
Aujourd’hui, le Black Friday s’apparente à une journée (voire plusieurs) de soldes qui incitent à la consommation de masse dans le monde entier. Guerre des prix imbattables, promotions et bonnes affaires, voilà comment le black Friday pourrait-être résumé.
- L’année dernière, le black Friday accumulait à lui seul plus de 56 millions de paiements par cartes bancaires, un chiffre jamais vu auparavant. Cela équivaut à une hausse de 30,88% entre 2018 et 2019. En effet, le black Friday serait devenu le plus gros jour de consommation pour de nombreuses marques comme Amazon ou encore la Fnac.
Cependant, qu’en est-il de la dimension écologique ? Entre la surconsommation, la surproduction et l’émission excessive de gaz à effet de serre, il est difficile de nier que le black Friday ait un bilan carbone très préoccupant.
Les produits high-tech et les vêtements de fast fashion sont très souvent les deux plus gros points noirs de cette journée de novembre : ce sont eux qui réalisent le plus gros chiffre d’affaires. Outre le fait que leur production soit en effet peu écologique, le grand nombre de commandes ne fait qu’augmenter les taux de transport à travers le monde et de ce fait, un énorme taux de retour également : pas top pour le bilan carbone ! Pour ce qui est des invendus suite à cette surproduction de biens, il y aurait davantage d’intérêts pour les marques de détruire leurs stocks de soldes plutôt que d’essayer de les vendre à un moindre prix. La cause ? Les frais de stockage.
Acheter des produits pendant le Black Friday serait donc un énorme désastre pour la planète.
Make Friday Green Again : l’initiative anti Black Friday
C’est à la suite de ce constat que plusieurs collectifs se sont créés pour aller à l’encontre de ce système peu écologique.
C’est le cas du collectif « Make Friday Green Again » initié par la marque FAGUO qui propose une alternative écologique au profit d’une consommation raisonnable et responsable. Le mouvement rassemble aujourd’hui plus de 700 marques partageant la même vision éco responsable de l’entreprise d’aujourd’hui et de demain.
Parmi elles, Nature et Découverte, JOONE ou encore AIGLE ont décidé de rejoindre cette alternative. Mais concrètement, de quoi s’agit-il ?
En premier lieu, de ne pas faire de promotion le jour du Black Friday mais surtout d’enclencher chez les consommateurs une réelle démarche de réflexion autour de leur propre consommation.
« Prenons le temps d’analyser nos réels besoins, faisons du tri dans nos placards, recyclons, et consommons ce qui est nécessaire, sans excès.» Anaïs Tortel, co-fondatrice et gérante du Petit Carré Français, membre du collectif en 2020.
Focus sur FAGUO : une entreprise éco-responsable
A l’initiative de ce mouvement, la marque Faguo qui commercialise des vêtements, chaussures et accessoires avec un impact carbone réduit.
En effet, créée en 2008, la marque s’engage en faveur de la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique depuis quelques temps. En janvier 2020, elle a adopté un nouveau modèle et de nouveaux statuts pour coller à ses revendications en adoptant un statut d’entreprise à mission.
« Une entreprise à mission est une entreprise ou société commerciale qui intègre dans ses statuts un objectif d’ordre social ou environnemental. Cela signifie que l’entreprise se donne officiellement une mission qui vise à l’intérêt général ». Source You Matter World
Désormais société à mi-chemin entre entreprise et association, Faguo s’engage auprès de ses consommateurs sur les points suivants :
- Être capable de mesurer leur impact carbone et leurs émissions de CO2 en établissant un bilan avec la fondation GoodPlanet.
- Réduire ses émissions de CO2 (en utilisant des matières recyclées, en utilisant des énergies vertes en magasin ou encore en transportant leur marchandise par train).
- Compenser leurs émissions en plantant chaque année un arbre par pièce produite.
- Être transparent sur les origines de production etc.
- Accompagner et informer les consommateurs sur des modes de consommation plus sains (inciter à réparer plutôt que jeter, recycler ou vendre ce dont nous n’avons plus besoin par exemple)
Une initiative écologique avec de l’avenir
Aujourd’hui plus que jamais, le Black Friday fait débat dans l’hexagone.
