Un constat malheureux :
Vous aussi vous vous êtes aperçu qu’i y avait de plus en plus de déchets à la surface de nos ports, mers, fleuves ou autres cours d’eaux? Des déchets qui ne cessent d’augmenter d’années en années.
Mais rassurez vous, une entreprise nommée Ladys, qui conçoit, développe et commercialise des innovations à la croisée de l’intelligence artificielle et de la robotique, s’est penchée sur le sujet. En effet, A l’origine de ce projet, il y a Nicolas Carlési, doctorant en robotique et intelligence artificielle mais aussi passionné de plongée et de planche à voile. Frappé par l’accumulation de déchets rencontrée lors de ses sorties sous-marines en Méditerranée, il décide de mettre ses compétences d’ingénieur au service de l’environnement.
La solution :
Pour répondre à cette problématique inquiétante, la société Ladys a crée « Jellyfishbot ». Cet objet révolutionnaire est un petit drone marin dont la mission consiste à collecter les déchets flottants et les hydrocarbures à la surface de l’eau.
Jellyfishbot a été mis en service à partir de Juin 2018 à Cassis dans le sud de la France. Sa mise à l’eau et surtout son efficacité en matière de récolte de déchets ont été un franc succès, c’est pourquoi il a depuis été adopté dans plusieurs pays dans le monde. Pour donner davantage de détails sur cet objet, c’est un petit robot à propulsion électrique conçu pour capter les déchets flottants, notamment les déchets en plastique, d’une taille supérieure à 5 mm jusqu’à 25 cm de longueur. Il est également capable de récupérer les hydrocarbures à la surface de l’eau de zones aquatiques plus ou moins étendues et/ou difficiles d’accès comme les ports, marinas, lacs, canaux, mais aussi bases de loisirs, résidences hôtelières et installations industrielles.
On note également que sa petite taille lui permet de se faufiler partout et d’atteindre facilement les déchets entraînés par le vent et les courants dans les recoins et zones d’accumulation. Jellyfishbot est équipé d’une filet à l’arrière lui permettant de ramasser à chaque sortie 80 litres de déchets flottants et 30 litres d’hydrocarbure. En parlant d’hydrocarbure, pour leur captation il suffit d’insérer dans le filet des feuilles ou « frites » hydrophobes ou polypropylène.
En forme de mini catamaran, il est léger, silencieux et surtout facilement transportable, il peut être télécommandé à distance à l’aide d’un joystick et fonctionne sur batteries.
Développement sur la scène internationale
Cette innovation se développe sur la scène internationale. En effet, on le retrouve dans plusieurs ports français, tels que Cannes, Marseille, Monaco, Saint-Tropez, Dunkerque, ont fait l’acquisition du robot collecteur. Mais sa réputation dépasse les frontières car elle est aussi internationale puisque le Parc Naturel Marin de Mayotte, Neuchâtel (Suisse), Singapour, Tokyo, Norvège, etc qui ont choisi cette solution de dépollution et de nettoyage des ports.
D’autres projets significatifs
La société Ladys ne compte pas arrêter ses exploits d’aussi tôt. En effet, depuis Janvier 2021 Jellyfishbot existe dans une version totalement autonome et est capable de nettoyer une zone préalablement déterminée sans mobiliser d’opérateur.
On note également que depuis Janvier 2021, le robot est équipé d’un filet de ramassage réutilisable 100% éco-conçu à partir de filets de pêche et d’ailes de kite surf usagés. Encore des efforts de la marque pour sans cesse s’améliorer. Pour finir, Iadys a conclu un partenariat avec Thomsea, leader mondial de la collecte de la pollution flottante. Un nouveau projet pour l’avenir : un chalut Thomsea sera tracté par deux Jellyfishbot, permettant ainsi de doubler la collecte des déchets dans ces grands filets en forme d’entonnoir d’une capacité de 150 litres et d’une largeur de 3 mètres.
