Le gaspillage alimentaire est un phénomène ayant de nombreuses répercutions autant au niveau financier, éthique et environnemental.
Les clients étant très sélectifs dans le choix de leurs produits avec notamment le choix des fruits et légumes en supermarchés. En effet, lorsque nos faisons nos courses, nous évitons de prendre des produits « abîmés ».
Il est estimé que 1,3 milliards de tonnes de nourritures sont jetées chaque années, ce qui représente un tiers de la nourriture produite pour l’alimentation humaine. Cette quantité serait aussi suffisante pour nourrir quatre fois les 8150 millions de personnes souffrant de la faim dans le monde. Plus proche de chez nous, avec la crise lié au Covid, la précarité de nombreuses personnes a augmenté les obligeant à se tourner vers des association d‘aide alimentaire. Depuis mars 2020, il y a eu une augmentation de 10 % avec notamment l’arrivée de certains étudiants. Le gaspillage alimentaire constitue donc une aberration sociale et est considéré comme de plus en plus insupportable.
Lorsque des produits encore consommables sont jetés, ce ne sont pas seulement ces aliments qui sont gaspillés. Il faut aussi considérer toutes les ressources qui ont été nécessaires pour le produire et aussi le transporter !
L’eau fraiche est l’une des ressources les plus précieuses sur Terre. 70 % de cette ressource est utilisée pour l’agricultures !
Saviez vous que la production d’une pomme requière 125 litres d’eau ?
Concernant la viande, les quantités sont beaucoup plus préoccupantes. Pour produire un kg de bœuf, 15 400 litres sont nécessaires !
Pourquoi la nourriture est gaspillée ?
Le premier facteur responsable du gaspillage alimentaire au sein des pays développés est l’abondance. Les mauvaises habitudes alimentaires des clients sont aussi tenue pour responsables, mais il y a aussi les distributeurs, supermarchés ainsi que les restaurants !
Pendant une longue période, tout aliment avec un emballage abimé se voyait retiré des rayons et jeté.

- Les magasin ayant une superficies supérieure à 400 m² doivent proposer une convention de don à des associations dans le but de la reprises des invendus encore consommables
- Il leur est interdit de rendre impropre à la consommation les invendus.
Cette loi a aussi pour effet bénéfique de générer une augmentation des dons alimentaires de la grande distribution vers les associations caritatives. En 2018, cette loi a étendu son champs d’application à la restauration collective et à l’industrie agroalimentaire.
Des exemples d’actions mises en place pour lutter contre le gaspillage alimentaire
Intermarché et leur campagne contre les fruits et légumes moches
Intermarché a lancé une opération pour vendre moins cher des fruits et légumes abimés, mais toujours consommables. Cette opération a permis de séduire un large public et cela bien au-delà des espérances.
Emergence de nouvelles applications contre le gaspillage alimentaire.
Pour réduire le gaspillage alimentaire au sein des commerces de restauration ou bien des boulangeries , de nouvelles applications ont émergé. C’est notamment le cas de :

Cette application permet de revaloriser les invendus alimentaires et de réduire l’empreinte écologique. Elle met donc en relation les commerçants alimentaires et les consommateurs.
On compte aujourd’hui plus de 15 000 commerces dans toute la France qui proposent des mesure surprise au tiers du prix initial.
Il existe aussi de nombreuses autres applications qui ont suivi le même chemin tel que O gaspi !, FoodAct..
éco-charlie
A Lyon, l’association « éco-charlie » récupère la nourriture destinée à être jetée pour la redistribuée de manière solidaire. Ainsi, 300 kg de nourriture destinée à être jetée sont récupérées chaque semaine au bénéficiaires qui n’ont pas besoin de débourser le moindre centime. Pour devenir bénéficiaire, il suffit simplement de s’inscrire sur le site et de venir participer aux récoltes.
Checkfood
Pour éviter le gaspillage alimentaire au sein de nos placards, l’application mobile Checkfood permet d’agir comme un pense-bête. La première étape d’utilisation de cette application est de rentrer manuellement les produits achetés avec leur date de péremption. Une fois que la date approche, une notification est envoyée pour avertir le consommateur. Il a ainsi le choix de le consommer ou bien ou bien de le donner s’il n’en a pas le temps. Pour conclure, le gaspillage alimentaire n’est aujourd’hui plus acceptable. De nombreuses actions ont été initiée pour lutter contre ces mauvaises pratiques qui coûtent cher.
